Media Does Matter
Today, the Trump Administration launched the White House Wire. Here’s why this became necessary.
President Donald J. Trump had been the subject of a decade of disinformation led by media sources in coordination with Democrat operatives such as Media Matters. It was not a coincidence when main stream media talking heads and Democrat elected leaders are using the same talking points and keywords to report on Trump’s actions. It was very clear this impacted his 2020 re-election campaign aided and abetted by social media manipulation on Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.
The addition of social media influencers to the political news cycle became effective with the elections of Barack Obama. By the time Trump was elected in 2016, political operatives on the right and the left were focused on fully utilizing this resource to influence voters on their phones and laptops. The extremists on both sides chose to publish conspiracy theories and unsubstantiated analysis of COVID and Trump policies, leading the average voter to doubt the reliability of the hundreds of emails and texts popping up on their personal devices. Consumers of political news were opening their eyes to the fact that facts had nothing to do with the stories they were reading.
MSNBC star Rachel Maddow has been one of the most egregious perpetrators of disinformation on cable news, looking into the camera and boldly lying about Trump’s relationship with Russia in Cross Fire Hurricane, the effectiveness of COVID vaccines, and the need to impeach Trump – twice! With unparalleled glee and fervor, she crowned the attorneys attacking Trump in the courtroom as protectors of Democracy and world order.
Where’s Rachel now?
Maddow was recently demoted in favor of a younger influencer, Alex Wagner, a daytime host who will be less controversial. MSNBC president Rashida Jones told the New York Times, “I really want the takeaway from this show to be a better understanding of what’s happening in the world.” At the same time, Jen Psaki, a longtime Democratic operative and mouthpiece for President Biden, has secured a major promotion at MSNBC, stepping into a prime-time role that positions her as the network’s new leading voice. While Maddow flails away on Monday nights, Psaki has been elevated from her “Insider” show on Sundays, to be featured Tuesday through Friday in a prime time slot called “The Briefing“. It will be interesting to see if she comes clean about Biden’s true health condition during his campaign and Presidency, the weaponization of the Department of Justice, and the media’s unwillingness to report on the Biden family’s apparent embezzlement and misuse of power and influence for personal gain and legal protection. Not holding my breath..
The Trump team learned many things about twenty-first century political tactics from the 2020 election and plans changed on the communications front. Following the launch of Truth Social, Elon Musk’s purchase and conversion of Twitter into X is now the model for free speech on a widely used network. Since Trump’s re-election in 2024, there has been a parade of media chiefs lining up to kiss the President’s ring in hopes of heading off attempts to reduce their liability for content on their sites.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has taken back control of the briefing room, moving some White House correspondents aside in favor of social media influencers and bloggers who have much larger and diverse audiences. The 47th President, in contrast to his predecessor, now holds almost daily press availability providing unmatched transparency, but the media still resists by omission. They just don’t want their readers and viewers to hear any news about common sense solutions coming from the Trump administration. Meanwhile, their viewers and advertisers continue to fade in favor of podcasts, and eNews from trusted sources.
This week, as Democrats called for the impeachment of President Trump, Americans were able to listen in as White House Cabinet members reported on progress made during the first 100 days of the Administration. It was so encouraging to hear about their work to address waste, fraud and abuse through the work of DOGE, improving our economy by bringing businesses back to the USA, making our communities safer by removing criminal aliens, addressing America’s declining health through cooperation between the Departments of Agriculture and Health & Human Services, strengthening our military, and providing leadership to advance peace in Africa, Ukraine and the Middle East.
If you’d like to follow the Trump Administration’s work, visit the White House Wire and your faith in the future of our country will be restored. His impressive team of agency leaders are implementing common sense solutions, just as he promised.
