Full Circle

Today I resigned from the Sacramento County Republican Central Committee. After serving ten years as a Member and eight years as Chair, I felt I could no longer be effective under the new/old leadership.

I first served on the SacGOP Committee in May of 2016. I joined the Committee to fill a vacancy. This was during a very important election, and I had reached out to the leadership to ask if I could be of assistance but no one ever followed up. By October of 2016, their website still focused on the Primary. Again despite my offers, they did not want help with their website or communications. The leadership had a tight grip and I was not a member of their far right club, so I couldn’t be trusted…

I was elected Chair in 2017 and had eight years of registration growth and election wins, from the Legislature to school boards. I am very proud of the team that worked so hard to represent the Republican Party as welcoming and dedicated to commonsense principles.

Been There…Done That

Now that same Chair that I replaced is coming back to lead the Committee. They’ve gone full circle. I just couldn’t sit through meetings where the emphasis was purity tests and enabling perennial candidates with no hope of winning. This is such a disappointment as President Trump needs good people at the grassroots level to convey the message that he truly is working to Make America Great Again. Too many people who follow Trump think that division and exclusion is what he stands for, and I think it’s just the opposite.

After Kevin Kiley announced his departure from the GOP, I was picturing Gov. Newsom smiling with glee as his major detractor struggles to find a path to victory. With Prop 50, Kiley’s district was divided five ways in order to further empower Democrats. I was sorry to see him leave the GOP as I feel we are stronger when we work together, but I wish him well and know he would be the best choice in the CD 6 race.

I do not intend to leave the GOP and will serve on two conservative organization boards to continue my work electing commonsense Republicans, and maybe one who registered as NPP..
